Have you ever found yourself with such low motivation to do anything creative that it feels almost impossible? I know I've been there. More times than I'd like to admit.
It can be really difficult when those moments hit, especially when it feels like no matter how much you rack your brain, nothing seems to come out. But one thing I have discovered that helps me in these types of situations is putting music on and just letting my imagination flow.
Different types of music can help boost different areas of creativity, and finding the right music that helps you can be quite easy.
For example, I have different songs I put on depending on which creative skill I want to work on. If I am stuck with writing, I just search up "Music for writing" and I click on the first one that catches my interest. Usually, these tend to only be instrumental which is great for when I don't want to get distracted by the lyrics while I am trying to find the perfect words for a story I am writing.
When it comes to drawing, on the other hand, it's easier for me to put on just about any song I like (instrumental or not) and to let myself draw to it. Sometimes it means my characters end up in a situation inspired by whatever I am listening to, but honestly, that's not a bad thing at all. In fact, a lot of the development my characters have gone through throughout the years has been because of music inspirations that flicked a switch in my brain, and added an entirely new level of depth to the character (Depressing or otherwise).
So, if you're finding yourself stuck with nothing to inspire you, how about popping in your headphones and jamming to your favorite tunes?
If nothing else, at least you'll be listening to something you like.
Stay tuned for the next creativity finding tip!
